IoT Security: A Penetration Tester's and Attacker's Perspective

Session Description

The IoT industry is connecting devices to the the internet that were never thought possible or necessary. Once users get use to these connected devices, it's hard to think of life without them. Some manufactures forget the simple fact that the devices they are connecting are in effect computers. We will discuss some of the largest security findings, what attracts researchers to your device, and share the most common mistakes manufactures are making. We'll also discuss simple methods to keep your devices out of the news and make it harder for attackers and security researchers to exploit the devices. We will look at the attack surface of the devices deemed to be in IoT, and look at unintentional uses and other physical and brand damaging IoT research.
