The Approval Matrix: Boston Scientific and Accenture's Approach

Session Description

PLM implementations in highly regulated industries often need a flexible approval matrix or framework that does not depend on the clients' needing to maintain rigid container teams and member assignments. Instead, the specific approval roles, role purposes and role qualifiers must be dynamically composed, depending on the attribute values and data types undergoing change or being reviewed. Accenture designed and implemented a flexible approval matrix for Boston Scientific by subtyping Windchill Parts as Approval Rule Objects (ARO's) with specific approval roles, role purposes and role qualifiers. This allowed complex business logic to be easily captured by creating ARO's to govern the approval of all the migrated data when the system went live successfully in September 2016. We will cover the business and technical perspectives of the approval matrix
