One BOM is Better Than Two – Linking the CAD BOM and PDMLink Product Structure

Session Description

As SRAM began shifting from a drawing-centric to a part-centric environment, it became clear that maintaining a link between the CAD BOM and PDMLink Product Structure was crucial. Maintaining a separate and disjointed CAD BOM and Product Structure BOM would add confusion and work for SRAM and our suppliers. The method for passing information from Creo into PDMLink, effectively linking the CAD BOM and PDMLink Product Structure is less than ideal. We determined that instead of doing this work manually, using PTC's j-Link API to automate the process resulted in a win-win; people get the ease of CAD BOM creation using out-of-the-box Creo tools and the time-saving benefits of using PDMLink Product Structure, all in a connected and synchronized environment.
