6-Degrees of the IoT

Session Description

The Internet of things is different than any technology we (as IT professionals) have been called to implement, manage and protect. As a result, we need a new paradigm for protecting this new technology. Built upon the foundation of the original Internet, the Internet of Things bears little resemblance to it. Rather, it resembles modern social networks in its application. In this discussion, Senrio VP of Operations Jamison Utter explores this idea using the now-familiar "6 degree theory" (think: 'Kevin Bacon') and other social networking concepts. Jamison will explain why it is important to understand these concepts and how they will influence the growth of the Internet of Things and the ways it will challenge IT professionals and organizations that wish to leverage it.
